CGCTA, a body registered with the Registrar of Societies, is the only elected Association of teachers working in Govt. Colleges/other higher educational institutions administered and controlled by UT Chandigarh. There are 11 Govt. Colleges/ Higher Educational institutions in UT Chandigarh. Out of these, 4 Govt. Arts & Science Colleges, one Govt. College of Education, one Govt. Commerce College, one Govt. Yoga College, one Govt. Art College, one Architecture College, one Govt. Polytechnic and one Govt. Medical College.
CGCTA,was originally registered as GCTWO under the Societies Registration Act of 1860. The association was registered on 30th October 2008. The Executive Core Committee (ECC) of the association has the following members as office bearers who shall remain in office for a tenure of 2 years:

The association also safeguards all its members and enhances the potentialities of teachers by giving and informing them about all kinds of academic activities both at national and international levels.
